This is a simple project I made to send to a YouTuber I like. It Uses a microcontroller to drive a few RGB LEDs inside a translucent 3D print in the shape of the YouTube channel’s logo. The idea was inspired by the northern lights seen over northern Norway where the YouTuber is based.

Assembly

The logo was designed in Fusion 360 and then 3D printed.

The electronics were made using a solderable prototype board. The MCU is a ATmega 328p in a DIP package. It runs some simple code which generates varying duty cycle PWM signals on three GPIO. The GPIO then control the gate of three MOSFETS which drive the LEDs. The circuit was prototyped on a breadboard before assembling the soldered version.

After completion I sent it to the YouTube who was very appreciative of the gift.
